Purpose of a C3 Life Group

C3 Life Groups are a small group of disciples committed to walking with Jesus in community and loving others on mission. Life Groups accomplish this purpose through these four foundational practices:

Life Groups: A small group of disciples committed to walking with Jesus in community and loving others on mission. Life Groups accomplish this purpose through these four foundational practices:

Scripture:

  • Whether through direct Bible study, supplemental books, or a focus on accountability to the Word, each group will maintain an emphasis on the Truth of Scripture.

Prayer:

  • Groups will pray regularly with and for one another.

  • Additionally, occasional emphasis will be put on prayer for the purpose of growing in this practice.

Community:

  • Grace: As we remain truthful to Scripture, grace will be our means. (John 1, Romans 2).

  • Humility: A great threat to a healthy community is pride which often manifests itself most evidently in gossip, slander, and grumbling. Groups will strive to have humility in relationships with one another (Philippians 2).

  • Intentionality: Groups are encouraged to be intentional in community and discipleship. Groups will have the opportunity to build relational connections regularly through consistent weekly meetings. Groups are also encouraged to show up randomly for kids games, barbecues, friendsgiving, service projects, etc.

  • Safe Place: Each member will take responsibility to create and maintain an environment where the rest of the group is heard, feels safe to share hard things, safe to ask questions, and discuss topics that you may not all agree on.

Service:

  • Inward: Groups are encouraged to serve each other. Through unexpected events, crises, and everything in between, group members are encouraged to have eyes to see and meet the needs of the members in their group.

  • Outward: Groups are encouraged to serve others. There are a multitude of ministries in our own church, community, and globally (cartervillechristian.com/outreach).
